Nervous kids
Anxiety is information, not a problem to fix.
If your child is worried about the dentist, we plan around that — not against it. Here's how to prepare and what we do in the room.
A script to read the night before
Comfort items that help
- A favorite small stuffed animal to hold.
- Noise-reducing headphones — we can play your child's music or a podcast.
- A blanket from home (we have weighted blankets too).
- A water bottle for after.
Our stop signal
Before we start, we agree on a signal. Raised hand is the default. When we see it, we stop immediately — no questions asked, no "just one more second". That trust is the whole appointment. If your child uses the signal a lot, that's information for us: maybe today is a tour day, not a treatment day. That's fine.
What we don't do
- We don't say "be brave" or "it won't hurt". Both are pressure.
- We don't hold a child down for routine care.
- We don't surprise. Every tool gets shown and named first.
If today doesn't work
Sometimes kids walk in ready and walk out without sitting in the chair. That's a successful visit — we learned together what the next one needs to look like. We don't charge extra for a slow start.
